My scholarship for the next five years is $17,000 per year. Harvard subsidized housing for a shared apartment is over $1000 per month to live near campus. If you do the math, you see that this doesn't leave you much for food... I decided not to live in an apartment the first year (I can see if the non-subsidized housing off-campus has more reasonable rates) so I'll be living in a student dorm for about $6500 for 10 months.
