Wouldn’t it be great if, one night while watching 60 Minutes, as they announce all the reporters names….”With Ed Bradley, Mike Walla….BAM! you see this fist fly from off-screen, punching Mike Wallace in the face - dropping him like a sack of potatos. Then, in front of the screen steps Hugh Downs in a black Armani suit, adjusting his collar, “And I’m Hugh Downs. And this is 47 1/2 minutes, thanks to commercial breaks.” Then you see him run towards the camera and he goes behind the camera and you hear the sound of a severe beating and the camera flops all over the place, finally crashing to the ground, Blair Witch-style. Then you see lots of feet running back and forth, in and out of the camera view, until finally it goes to that “Technical Difficulties” screen. Now that’s Must See TV.

are you kidding me?
that would be the dog’s bollocks!
i never liked mike wallace; i downright despised him after his interview with my all-time sports hero, ricky williams.
envisioning this scene reminds me of a pretty good skit during “saturday night live’s” sucky years in the mid-90s. it was a morning show called “wake up smile.” when the teleprompter quits working, the hosts wind up, in short order, regressing to their most-basic instincts.
if i remember correctly, the male co-host actually decapitates the weatherman and eats his brains.
that would be the only aspect that would make this surreal display better.

Cool, Mike, why didn’t you think of that!
