when august comes

I’m two weeks into summer classes and I’m utterly exhausted. What’s worse, I decided to quit coffee a few weeks ago (I’m going through one of those free your body from stimulants stages. Just so we’re clear, I do not regard chocolate as a stimulant, but a necessary aphrodisiac). The young adult literature class is the real ass kicker at the moment. We had our first class last Saturday. Eight hours straight of mostly lecture and power point slides. I’ve literally been working around the clock since Monday, arriving at the library early and staying late so I can finish homework without distractions. I was hoping I would at least get finished with all my papers by tonight but unfortunately, it looks like I’ll be here on my day off tomorrow too. I was looking forward to the YA class because I knew I would get to read a bunch of YA novels, but I have to read them at such speed, I don’t really have much time to enjoy them. I’ll have to re-read them when the course is done. I read I am cheese this week which is my first Robert Cormier book. Very good but rather depressing. You finish reading it and you feel pretty damn hopeless about the world.

So. I’m gonna go now and hmm…I most likely won’t be back until classes are over in August.
