I can’t believe it’s butter

Mike and I have an ongoing argument about butter. I love butter. I’ll butter almost anything. Bread, potatoes, rice, steamed veggies. I also love to put butter on my sandwiches. I’m just not into the whole mustard and mayo thing, I never was. For instances, I’ll have a turkey sandwich with butter. I also love butter under my peanut butter when I have a peanut butter sandwich. This really gets Mike, he thinks it’s disgusting to put more butter where butter simply isn’t needed. I beg to differ. Peanut butter and butter are two separate things and one compliments the other perfectly in my opinion. Jam and butter on toast is another one that makes Mike scratch his head. It’s especially good if the bread is toasted and the butter is melted.

Do I have weird butter habits? Does anyone else out there put butter on their peanut butter sandwhich?

not at all! I’m the same way, at least when I’m outside of US. In order to comply with US customs, I put mustard on sandwiches in-country but whenever I head back to Norway I am back to using butter as the first layer on everything involving bread!

In Korea they have no cheese of any quality which fits into my budget here so I have switched to plain wheat bread+balsamic vinegar. Give it a try. Wonderful lunch. Just take some bread, dip into balsamic vinegar. It has become a classic lunch for me after my German roommate did it all year long. For real style, mix the vinegar with some decent olive oil.

Balsamic vinager on bread? I’ll try it but…skeptical. No affordable cheese? Not sure I could make it in Korea.

Add some garlic to the olive oil (and vinegar), and you’ll have a feast! Better still, throw in a pinch of basil or Italian seasoning.

You know I just realized that I have tried this. Every time we go to the Olive Garden, I use my bread sticks to clean up the salad dressing of my plate.

You seem to fit into our family better than Mike. We LOVE butter. You should see my mother- she loads up on it. Mike must follow after dad, who doesn’t put any butter on anything. He doesn’t even use salad dressing!!

Last I checked, Kim, Dad’s a part of the family too :)

Actually, we’re a whopping 50% of it. So I’d say we fit in pretty well.
